The City of Coral Gables will observe modified hours of operation on New Year’s Day, Thursday, Jan. 1, with administrative offices closed and several city facilities shuttered for the holiday. Some recreational amenities will remain open on limited schedules, while essential services such as sanitation and transit will continue operating normally.

Administrative offices closed

All city administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 1, in observance of New Year’s Day. The closure applies to departments housed at City Hall and other municipal administrative buildings.

Recreation facilities largely closed

Several city-operated recreational and community facilities will be closed for the holiday.

The War Memorial Youth Center, Venetian Pool, Adult Activity Center, Golf and Country Club Athletic Club gym and pool, and the Passport Acceptance Facility will all be closed on New Year’s Day.

Limited openings for golf and tennis

A small number of outdoor recreational facilities will remain open with adjusted hours.

The Granada Golf Course will operate from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Both the Salvadore Tennis Center and the William H. Kerdyk Biltmore Tennis Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Transit services

Public transportation services will not be affected by the holiday. The Coral Gables trolley will operate on their regular schedules throughout the day on Thursday, Jan. 1. Freebee will not.

Sanitation services on regular schedule

Garbage, trash, and recycling collection will continue on their normal schedule on New Year’s Day. Residents are advised to follow standard disposal guidelines.

Planning ahead for the holiday

City officials note that while many facilities will be closed, essential services and select recreational options remain available. Residents and visitors are encouraged to plan ahead and confirm hours for specific facilities before heading out.
