On the first Friday of every month, the galleries and cultural venues of downtown Coral Gables stay open late, the trolleys run between them, and the City Beautiful turns its streets over to art. This Friday, June 5, Gallery Night returns from 6 to 10 p.m. with a roster that spans bridal couture, Mexican fiber art, and an interactive community mural.

Where fashion meets fine art

At Leggenda Bridal, 34 Miracle Mile, the evening pairs couture with canvas. The bridal house and Garcia Art Gallery present a joint celebration in which wedding gowns are displayed alongside paintings — an evening built around the idea that a dress and a painting are both, in their way, finished works of art.

A few blocks away at Garcia Art Gallery, 102 Giralda Avenue, the focus turns to the work of Mexican artist Fidel García, whose recent paintings and portraits explore atmosphere, gesture, and the human figure. Refreshments will be served throughout the evening.

At Pedrido Arte, 290 Miracle Mile, contemporary art meets the vineyard. The gallery pairs a curated collection of contemporary work with complimentary tastings of wines from Oregon’s wine country, an evening organized around the pairing of visual art and the glass in hand.

Textiles, dreams and community

The Consulate General of Mexico, on the fifth floor of 2555 Ponce de Leon Boulevard, presents “Where the Sky Meets the Grass,” an exhibition that brings together handwoven textiles from Etzatlán, Mexico, with contemporary fiber installations inspired by South Florida’s landscapes. Presented in collaboration with the Cultural Institute of the Consulate, Fiber Artists Miami Association, and The Center, the show frames weaving as a bridge between cultures, generations, and natural environments.

At Art Labbé Gallery, 2522 Ponce de Leon Boulevard, the night is participatory. “I Have a Dream…” invites visitors to contribute to a collaborative community mural inspired by personal aspirations and self-expression, adding their own vision to an evolving work over the course of the evening. The gallery will also host the seventh annual Neurodiverse Art and Poetry Contest, Liberté 2026, highlighting the work of neurodiverse artists and poets.

Music and history at the museum

The Coral Gables Museum, 285 Aragon Avenue, anchors Gallery Night as it does each month, opening free to the public from 6 to 10 p.m. with a cash bar, happy hour specials, and live music. This month’s performance comes from the duo of Bruce Turkel and Dave Bricker, whose acoustic blend of American roots and rhythm will fill the museum courtyard beginning at 6 p.m. Inside, visitors can explore the museum’s standing exhibition on the history of Coral Gables and its founder George Merrick, alongside the current show, “Life Is a Barranquilla Carnival.” Gallery Night at the museum is presented by its Young Associates.

Getting there

Gallery Night takes place Friday, June 5, from 6 to 10 p.m. throughout downtown Coral Gables. Admission to participating galleries is free. Visitors are encouraged to use the city’s trolleys or Freebee on-demand vehicles to travel between venues. Giralda Avenue will also feature live music as part of the evening’s downtown programming.

Now in its fourth decade as a staple of city life, Gallery Night is free and walkable, and the city encourages visitors to move between venues using its complimentary trolley service or Freebee on-demand vehicles rather than searching for parking at each stop.

A Pride exhibition opens

Apart from Gallery Night, a separate Pride Month exhibition opens Friday as well at a historic church outside the downtown gallery circuit. “The Reach of Light,” presented by Gay in the Gables, transforms the sanctuary of the Coral Gables Congregational United Church of Christ, 3010 De Soto Boulevard, into a gallery space for contemporary portraiture by Florida LGBTQIA+ artists Josh Aronson, Celeste Burns, Ricky Cohete, Juicy Love Dion, David Gary Lloyd, and Michael Zimmerer.

Across the works, light operates as both material and metaphor, with references to halos, iconography and devotional imagery seen through a contemporary queer lens. The exhibition asks viewers to consider how a place of worship can become a space for visibility and belonging. The opening reception runs Friday, June 5, from 6 to 9 p.m., and the exhibition is on view June 4 through 6.
