Parking plays a central role in how residents, workers, and visitors experience downtown, and the City of Coral Gables is seeking public input as it evaluates what is working — and what may need improvement.
City officials have launched a brief online parking survey focused on downtown Coral Gables. The one-minute questionnaire is designed to gather feedback on how people typically park, how long it takes to find a space, and what factors most influence parking decisions.
Survey open to residents, businesses and visitors
The city is inviting participation from a broad range of downtown users, including residents, business owners, employees, and visitors. Officials say responses will help inform future parking planning and potential improvements in the downtown area.
The survey asks respondents how they most often park when visiting downtown — whether curbside, in a garage, by valet, in a surface lot, or through rideshare or public transit. Participants are also asked which option they seek first when arriving, such as the closest curbside space, the most affordable option, or any available garage.
Measuring convenience, cost and time
Several questions focus on the practical experience of parking downtown. Respondents are asked how long they typically spend searching for parking, ranging from less than five minutes to more than ten minutes, or whether they go directly to valet service.
The survey also asks participants to identify the single most important factor influencing their parking choice, including price, proximity to their destination, ease of access, or safety and lighting.
The final question invites respondents to characterize the overall parking experience in Coral Gables, asking them to complete the sentence: “Parking in Coral Gables is…” with options ranging from “easy” to “a challenge.”
Input to shape future decisions
City officials have framed the survey as a data-gathering step rather than a proposal for specific changes. The results are expected to provide a snapshot of current parking behavior and perceptions, which could help guide future discussions around parking availability, pricing, and operations downtown.
Participation is open to anyone who visits downtown Coral Gables and takes approximately one minute to complete.
