¡Cachao Vive! A concert of Cuban melodies

Celebrate the enduring legacy of Cuban music at ¡Cachao Vive! A Concert of Cuban Melodies, a special performance honoring the contributions of Israel López “Cachao,” the legendary bassist and composer who revolutionized the mambo and Latin jazz genres on Saturday, April 26 at 7 pm.

This evening at the Sanctuary of the Arts, 410 Andalusia Ave., Coral Gables, will showcase the rich rhythms and melodies that have defined Cuban musical heritage.

The concert will feature the Yelsy Heredia Trio, led by two-time Latin Grammy nominee Yelsy Heredia on bass. The trio also includes Pacho Chibás on piano and Tany Allende on percussion. Together, they will deliver a dynamic and heartfelt tribute to Cachao’s influence on Latin music.

In addition to the live performance, the event will include a short documentary presentation by producer Joe Cardona, highlighting the history of the San Carlos Institute in Key West. This segment marks the centennial of the building known as La Casa Cuba, underscoring the deep cultural ties between Cuba and the United States.
