Families are invited to spend an art-filled Saturday at the next Family Day on Aragon, returning August 9 to downtown Coral Gables with a full slate of creative and community-minded programming. The free event spans three beloved local institutions—Books & Books, the Coral Gables Museum, and the Coral Gables Art Cinema—offering storytime, hands-on workshops, and even yoga.
A heartfelt reading from Melissa T. Shultz
The day begins at noon with a special children’s reading at Books & Books, featuring author and journalist Melissa T. Shultz. She will present her debut picture book What Will I Do If I Miss You?, a warm, reassuring story for young children navigating first-day jitters or separation anxiety. Based on her own family’s experience, the book follows a young boy named Alex as he prepares to start day school, only to discover a powerful way to feel connected to his mom even when apart—by simply placing a hand over his heart.
The reading is free and open to all, with RSVPs encouraged through the Books & Books website. Families can expect an engaging and interactive storytime experience led by Shultz, whose background includes writing for The New York Times, The Washington Post, Newsweek, and Reader’s Digest. Her work has long focused on family, transitions, and resilience, themes that shine through in this gentle tale.
Art and mindfulness at the Coral Gables Museum
The Coral Gables Museum is anchoring a second major component of Family Day on Aragon with a special event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Presented in partnership with Graphikasana, the program spotlights the intersection of visual art and yoga through the work of Miami-based artist Yolyanko William.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., children and families are invited to participate in a drop-in art workshop inspired by yoga poses. Artist Yolyanko William will be painting live during the session and offering guidance on line work and free expression. His original drawings and reproductions will also be on view in the Museum’s Zahner Center.
Then at 2 p.m., certified yoga instructor and visual artist Krystal T. Rodriguez will lead an all-levels yoga demonstration open to participants of all ages. Rodriguez is known for her inclusive teaching style, offering thoughtful accommodations and a welcoming approach to movement and mindfulness. Her work as both an educator and exhibiting artist brings an added layer of depth to the experience.
A community collaboration with staying power
Family Day on Aragon is held on the second Saturday of every month and is made possible through a grant from the Coral Gables Community Foundation and sponsorship by Grove Bank & Trust. Its goal is to bring families together in celebration of literacy, art, and wellness in a format that feels vibrant, welcoming, and rooted in local culture.
Whether you’re coming for the storytime, the art, the yoga, or simply the chance to connect, Family Day on Aragon offers a rich afternoon for all ages. Attendance is free at every location. Come early, stay late, and enjoy Coral Gables at its most creative.

Along with every thing which appears to be building within this area, a significant percentage of viewpoints are actually quite exciting. Even so, I am sorry, because I do not subscribe to your entire strategy, all be it exhilarating none the less. It seems to us that your opinions are actually not entirely rationalized and in actuality you are yourself not wholly convinced of your point. In any case I did take pleasure in reading it.
