Taste of the Gables 2025, the city’s month-long culinary initiative that ran throughout July, drew participation from 74 restaurants and, according to city officials, generated stronger returns for both businesses and the community.

Next month, Coral Gables isn’t just serving meals—it’s serving experiences.

The city’s signature culinary celebration, Taste the Gables, returns in full flavor for July, showcasing more than 70 local restaurants with prix-fixe menus, exclusive promotions, and limited-time specials designed to tempt tastebuds and boost business during South Florida’s steamy off-season. Whether it’s a Michelin-starred tasting menu or a casual neighborhood favorite, there’s something for everyone at this month-long gastronomic gala.

“This program is all about spotlighting the exceptional culinary talent we have right here in Coral Gables,” said Belkys Perez, the city’s Economic Development Director. “Taste the Gables gives residents and visitors alike a reason to explore our restaurants, try new flavors, and support local businesses during a traditionally slower time of year.”

And explore they will. From sleek modern kitchens to timeless favorites tucked into historic buildings, the event offers a curated invitation to discover why Coral Gables has a reputation as South Florida’s ultimate dining destination.

Michelin-starred Mile favorites

Participating venues range from buzzed-about newcomers to well-established staples. Standouts include:

  • Shingo – a minimalist Japanese concept recently awarded a Michelin star
  • Zitz Sum and Bachour – both Bib Gourmand honorees
  • Beauty and the Butcher and Kojin 2.0, Michelin-recommended destinations
  • Plus dozens more: from high-end steakhouses and sushi bars to authentic trattorias, tapas joints, and Latin American cafes

Lunch menus start at $30 and dinner prix-fixe options begin at $45, with most restaurants offering creative three-course packages and some layering in cocktail pairings or dessert upgrades.

The city has also launched a dedicated site, TasteTheGables.com, featuring an interactive restaurant directory, curated blog content, event listings, and sponsor highlights. Diners can search by cuisine, price point, or location—making it easy to plot a week’s worth of adventures with just a few clicks.

Culinary Kickoff with heart—and heat

The festivities get underway on Friday, June 27 with a kickoff walking food tour hosted by the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce. The “Taste the Gables Kickoff” invites guests to stroll through the heart of downtown while sampling signature dishes at four hand-picked eateries:

  • La Pata Gorda (Latin sea cuisine)
  • La Rosa Gastrobar (modern international cuisine)
  • Maiz y Agave (authentic agave-driven Mexican)
  • Morton’s The Steakhouse (classic American steakhouse fare)

“This event is more than just a tasting,” said a Chamber spokesperson. “It’s part food, part history, and part architecture—a crash course in what makes our dining scene so distinctive.”

The tour begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Coral Gables Economic Development Department (2506 Ponce de Leon Blvd.) and runs until 4:45 p.m. Bites will be served family-style, and participants must be 21 and over. Tickets are $75 and available via Eventbrite.

Restaurant Month with economic purpose

Although the atmosphere is light and indulgent, Taste the Gables is also a strategic economic development initiative. Launched by the city to energize foot traffic during the typically quiet midsummer lull, the event has grown into one of the region’s most successful restaurant months. Restaurant Month keeps Coral Gables top-of-mind for residents and visitors while driving actual dollars into the local economy. The program is city-sponsored but business-powered. Each restaurant tailors its menu and promotional offer to match its identity, creating a mosaic of culinary experiences without sacrificing brand integrity. The city provides digital marketing, coordinated PR, and the robust event website to tie it all together.

A city where dining is identity

For Coral Gables, Taste the Gables is about more than meals—it’s about community character. With its Mediterranean architecture, lush canopies, and historic boulevards, the city has long cultivated an aesthetic of elegance. But over the past decade, its restaurant scene has added a new kind of vibrancy, one defined by diversity, authenticity, and ambition.

Indeed, with the University of Miami, dozens of foreign consulates, and more than 100 multinational companies based in Coral Gables, the city’s daytime population nearly doubles on weekdays. That steady flow of diners, combined with an affluent residential base, makes for an unusually stable food economy—even in uncertain times.

Explore. Eat. Repeat.

Ultimately, the message of Taste the Gables is simple: there’s never been a better time to eat well and support local.

Visitors can browse the full list of participating restaurants and prix-fixe menus at www.TasteTheGables.com. With more than 70 venues participating, even the most dedicated diners may not reach them all—but they’ll have a delicious time trying.
