For more than two decades, Coral Gables has welcomed residents and visitors to one of South Florida’s most beloved Independence Day traditions. This year, the City’s Fourth of July celebration will be infused with even more meaning as it coincides with Coral Gables’ centennial—a milestone the city plans to honor with spectacle, community spirit and a nod to its past and future.
The free celebration, presented by the City of Coral Gables and the Biltmore Hotel, takes place Friday, July 4, at the Biltmore Golf Course, 1200 Anastasia Avenue. Gates open at 5 p.m., and the evening culminates with a drone show and fireworks display beginning around 9 p.m.
“We are thrilled to welcome the community to this hallmark summer event which honors our nation’s independence,” said Fred Couceyro, director of the Community Recreation Department. “This year’s celebration will be especially meaningful as we mark the city’s centennial with a dynamic Coral Gables themed drone show, colorful fireworks and live music for this patriotic community event. It’s going to be an unforgettable evening of community pride and celebration.”
Centennial-sized celebration
The city’s 2025 theme, “100 Years of Gables,” will be on full display throughout the evening. In a first for Coral Gables, a synchronized drone show will light up the sky prior to the traditional fireworks. The drone performance—developed in collaboration with industry professionals—is designed to tell a story through movement and color, with imagery highlighting Coral Gables’ landmarks, history, and signature Mediterranean aesthetic.
Following the drone show kicking off at 9 p.m., fireworks will launch over the Biltmore Golf Course in a dazzling pyrotechnic display choreographed to patriotic music. For many longtime attendees, it’s a moment of shared awe that defines summer in Coral Gables.

Music, food, and family fun
Live music begins at 5 p.m. when the U.S. Navy Band Southeast plays a pre-show concert and then continues at 7 p.m. with a performance by the Greater Miami Symphonic Band, a local favorite that has long provided the event’s musical backbone. Their set will include a mix of patriotic standards and Americana classics designed to stir emotion and evoke unity.
While the music plays, attendees can explore a curated selection of food trucks lining the fairway, offering casual fare from around the region. Children’s activities will be available throughout the evening, including lawn games and photo opportunities with roving costumed characters.
Admission is free, and attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or low lawn chairs. Umbrellas, tents, drones, and pets (excluding service animals) are prohibited.
Getting there
The city will provide free bike valet service for those arriving on two wheels and encourages alternative transportation options to ease congestion. Limited parking will be available in and around the Biltmore area, and Coral Gables Trolley service will be suspended at 4 p.m. on July 4. Rideshare and carpooling are strongly advised.
Accessible seating areas and accommodations are available for guests with disabilities, and designated viewing sections will be clearly marked near the stage.
More than fireworks
While the event centers around July 4, this year’s celebration is also part of Coral Gables’ broader centennial programming. Throughout 2025, the city has scheduled a variety of events to reflect on its past 100 years, from exhibitions at the Coral Gables Museum to special performances and civic recognitions.
The Fourth of July event serves as a midpoint in that yearlong arc—an opportunity to unite residents across generations and backgrounds in a shared celebration of community identity and national heritage.
The City’s Recreation Department, Historical Resources Division and Office of Communications have collaborated to ensure this year’s event is both respectful of tradition and forward-looking in tone and technology.

Honoring Independence, marking milestone
As Coral Gables approaches the height of its centennial year, city leaders have emphasized civic participation as both a theme and a goal. The Fourth of July celebration aims to do more than entertain—it seeks to reinforce civic pride and remind residents of the values that have shaped the “City Beautiful” since its founding in 1925.
In this year of remembrance and renewal, the celebration blends patriotic tradition with local storytelling, creating an experience that is both rooted in national ideals and unmistakably Coral Gables.
The July 4th event is supported by a roster of local sponsors, including presenting partner The Biltmore Hotel, as well as Baptist Health and the University of Miami among others. Their support, city officials noted, helps ensure that the event remains free and open to the public.

Whether drawn by fireworks, live music, or a shared sense of place, thousands are expected to gather on the golf course this Independence Day. And as the sky lights up in celebration of a nation’s birthday and a city’s centennial, the message will be clear: in Coral Gables, the past and the future continue to meet—spectacularly.
