Families looking for a playful blend of hands-on creativity and classic cinema can find it at Coral Gables Art Cinema this Sunday, August 10, during a special Family Day Summer Art Workshop. The morning kicks off with a pressed flower hat-making session, followed by a screening of the 1955 comic gem The Court Jester, starring the legendary Danny Kaye.

From 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., attendees of all ages are invited to step into the colorful world of nature-inspired creativity. Led by local artist and artisan Anyi Botteri, founder of Ayni, the workshop introduces participants to the botanical press technique, a timeless and meditative art form that preserves the fleeting beauty of flowers.
Botteri will guide the group in creating whimsical Jester Hat Postcards using real pressed flowers—an imaginative nod to the film that follows. The project merges tactile fun with quiet reflection, giving families a meaningful way to engage with nature while fostering creative expression. No experience or supplies are necessary—just bring a sense of fun and curiosity.
The workshop is designed to be accessible to all skill levels and is ideal for children and adults alike. Tickets are required for all participants and include admission for two to the film screening that follows. Early reservations are encouraged, as space is limited.
“The Court Jester”: A comic classic for all generations
At 11:00 a.m., the laughter begins. The Court Jester is a swashbuckling farce filled with mistaken identities, palace intrigue, and dazzling wordplay. Danny Kaye stars as Hawkins, a gentle entertainer tasked with infiltrating a royal court by impersonating the infamous jester Giacomo.
The film features an ensemble cast including Glynis Johns, Basil Rathbone, and Angela Lansbury, and boasts one of the most famous tongue-twisters in cinematic history: “The pellet with the poison’s in the vessel with the pestle…”
