Coral Gables concentrates its holiday spirit into plazas, parks, libraries, and lawns—creating moments that feel communal, intentional, and rooted in place. This Saturday, the city leans fully into that tradition with a full day of Santa-centered events unfolding across Coral Gables, each offering a distinct tone, setting, and way to mark the season.
From cocoa at City Hall to bubble shows at The Plaza, framed photos in Holiday Park, and milk-and-cookies storytelling at the library, the day forms a natural arc—morning to afternoon, outdoor spectacle to quiet ritual. Families can choose one stop or make a day of it, moving through the city as Coral Gables intended: On foot, at ease and together.
Here is a guide to all four Santa events taking place Saturday, Dec. 20 in Coral Gables, each with its own personality and appeal.
Hot chocolate with Santa at Holiday Park
9 a.m. to 11 a.m. | Holiday Park at City Hall, 405 Biltmore Way
The day begins with one of the city’s most intimate holiday offerings. Hot Chocolate with Santa provides Coral Gables residents exclusive early-morning access to Holiday Park’s playground—before the park opens to the general public—creating a calm, cozy atmosphere that feels almost private.
Families are welcomed with hot chocolate, a children’s activity, and a photo opportunity with Santa in a setting that favors conversation over crowds. The scale is deliberately small, and the experience emphasizes ease: no rushing, no competing attractions, just a gentle start to the day framed by City Hall and seasonal décor.
The event costs $30 per group of four and is exclusively for Coral Gables residents. Advanced ticket registration is required, and availability is limited. Families interested in future dates or waitlist information can contact the city’s Special Events team at 305-460-5600 or specialevents@coralgables.com.
This event also affects park hours. On Dec. 20, Holiday Park opens to the public at noon rather than its usual 10 a.m. start.
Santa on the lawn at The Plaza
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. | The Plaza Coral Gables, 2811 Ponce de Leon Blvd.
While the morning remains quiet at City Hall, the energy rises several blocks away at The Plaza Coral Gables, where Santa takes to the lawn for a festive, high-spirited gathering designed to delight younger audiences.
This event blends classic holiday traditions—photos with Santa and storytelling sessions—with contemporary spectacle. A Christmas Bubble Show hosted by Santa’s Elf anchors the entertainment, featuring interactive bubble tricks, lights, fog, and holiday music. The inflatable stage transforms the lawn into a playful performance space, while holiday cookies round out the experience.
The event runs continuously through early afternoon, allowing families flexibility to drop in between other Santa stops or linger for the full program. The Plaza’s open-air setting and commercial surroundings give the event a lively, modern feel—part holiday party, part neighborhood festival.
Photos with Santa at Holiday Park
Noon to 10 p.m. | Holiday Park, 405 Biltmore Way
Once Holiday Park opens to the public at noon, Santa settles in for one of the city’s longest-running holiday rituals: Photos with Santa.
Here, the experience is simple and classic. For $10 per photo, families receive a full-color photograph with Santa, presented as a framed postcard. Afterward, visitors may also take their own photos, offering both keepsake and flexibility.
Santa’s availability stretches well into the evening, making this an easy stop after lunch, shopping, or dinner. Families should note that Santa takes breaks and enjoys conversation with visitors, which can affect wait times. On busy days, the line may close early to ensure those already waiting are seen before Santa’s departure.
Holiday Park itself remains open daily through early January, reinforcing its role as a seasonal anchor in the city’s public life.
Milk and cookies with Santa at the Coral Gables Library
2 p.m. to 3 p.m. | Coral Gables Branch Library, 3443 Segovia St.
The final Santa event of the day trades spectacle for warmth and familiarity. Milk and Cookies with Santa at the Coral Gables Branch Library offers a gentle, storybook ending to Super Santa Saturday.
Designed for all ages, the program invites families to gather for milk, cookies, games, and holiday cheer in one of the city’s most beloved civic spaces. The library setting encourages conversation and calm, making it an ideal choice for families seeking a quieter experience—or a restful pause after a busy morning.
Registration details and additional information are available directly through the branch at 305-442-8706 or capleybr@mdpls.org.
