Coral Gables’ art scene will be on full display as the city’s monthly Gallery Night returns on Friday, August 1, from 6 to 10 p.m., inviting residents and visitors to explore fine art, live music, and cultural connection across participating venues. With new exhibitions, complimentary refreshments, and curated works from both emerging and established artists, Gallery Night continues to be a highlight of Coral Gables’ cultural calendar.

The self-guided event, held the first Friday of each month, encourages attendees to stroll or take advantage of the city’s free trolley and Freebee on-demand vehicles to visit multiple galleries throughout the evening. The relaxed format gives art lovers the chance to engage with artists, discover new work, and enjoy a vibrant night out in the City Beautiful.

H. Benitez Fine Art Gallery previews new comparsa-inspired series

One of the evening’s key destinations is the H. Benitez Fine Art Gallery at 233 Aragon Avenue, which will be showcasing “The Grand Opening,” a vivid and dynamic comparsa series by celebrated Cuban-American artist Humberto Benitez. Known for his expressive color palettes and rhythmic compositions, Benitez is preparing a brand-new collection for release in September, and Gallery Night guests will get an early preview of his latest vision.

The gallery plans to debut a brand-new series from Humberto Benitez in September, according to event promotional materials.

The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment on weekends. For more information or to schedule a private viewing, guests can call 786-877-1045.

Photography pop-up debuts at 255 Alhambra

Those exploring the downtown core should make time for a special pop-up photography exhibition at 255 Alhambra Circle, featuring the work of David Gary Lloyd. Titled “Garden Shadows of the Sun,” Lloyd’s images explore the interplay between architecture, natural light, and organic form—a fitting subject for summer contemplation.

Presented in a temporary gallery space, the exhibition adds a modern lens to the evening’s offerings and highlights the versatility of Coral Gables as a hub for both traditional and contemporary art.

Free transportation and easy access

To make navigating the city easy and environmentally friendly, Coral Gables encourages visitors to take advantage of its complimentary trolley system and Freebee electric vehicles, which provide on-demand rides throughout the downtown area. With multiple galleries spread across Aragon Avenue, Ponce de Leon Boulevard, and Alhambra Circle, these options offer a seamless way to experience the full scope of Gallery Night without worrying about parking.

A monthly tradition that supports the arts

Gallery Night was established as part of Coral Gables’ broader initiative to support local artists, art institutions, and small businesses. By creating a recurring space for cultural celebration and artistic exposure, the program plays a key role in the city’s identity and economic vitality.

As summer winds down, the August 1 edition offers a chance to reengage with Coral Gables’ art community, connect with fellow patrons, and enjoy a night of visual and musical expression. With new work debuting and artists preparing for fall exhibitions, this month’s Gallery Night is both a celebration of what’s now and a preview of what’s to come.
