Internationally acclaimed pianist AyşeDeniz Gökçin brings her boundary-pushing vision to Coral Gables on Friday, September 19, with “Classical Regenerated,” a groundbreaking concert that blends virtuoso performance, artificial intelligence, and interactive storytelling. The in-person performance will take place at Newman Recital Hall at the University of Miami, located at 5513 San Amaro Drive, and begins at 7:30 p.m.
Classical roots, futuristic flourishes
Gökçin—who holds degrees from Eastman School of Music and the Royal Academy of Music—performs original compositions by Frédéric Chopin and Antonio Vivaldi, but not as audiences traditionally know them. Instead, the evening features AI-generated recompositions of these classical works, woven alongside the originals to provoke new perspectives and emotional contrasts.
In a bold interactive twist, audience members will also be able to engage in real-time conversations with AI avatars of Chopin and Vivaldi—tools trained on their writings, biographies, and historical documents to simulate informed, contextual dialogue.
“I want to bring crazy performers and composers from two different centuries together, through the power of the piano,” says Gökçin, whose career has consistently challenged norms in both performance and programming.
AyşeDeniz: Not your traditional virtuoso
Known for her Pink Floyd and Nirvana-inspired piano interpretations, AyşeDeniz has performed in over 29 countries—from classical concert halls to rock and jazz festivals—and attracted a global audience of over 600,000 fans. Her 2023 album Patterns marked a major collaboration with Audio Network UK and has been featured in film and TV scores including National Geographic’s A Real Bug’s Life on Disney+ and Amazon Prime’s Dance Life.
She was named one of Britannica’s 20 Under 40 Young Shapers of the Future of Music, joining a cohort that included Adele, Lorde, and Lil Nas X. Gökçin is also a GRAMMY® Voting Member and an official Kawai Artist.
In a message to her fans, Gökçin shares:
“When I was growing up, people told me I couldn’t be good in academics and in music; that I couldn’t play classical and rock; that I couldn’t wear sneakers to concerts. Guess what—they were wrong, and I’m so glad I didn’t listen to any of them.”
Hybrid performance with a human touch
“Classical Regenerated” invites its audience to reconsider the relationship between technology and creativity. What happens when AI is not used to replace the artist, but to reimagine the conversation? Can new tools help old masters say something new? Or something they never had the chance to say?
Gökçin doesn’t offer a single answer. Instead, she crafts an immersive experience—a concert, yes, but also a philosophical provocation wrapped in the velvet hammer of virtuosic performance.
Tickets range from $15 to $35, with tiered pricing for students and general admission.
