Miracle Mile is adding a new breakfast and sandwich destination, with Washington, D.C.-based Call Your Mother Deli planning to open its first South Florida restaurant in Coral Gables.
The bagel shop has selected 317 Miracle Mile for its new location, taking over the storefront previously occupied by Bodega Taqueria. The company is targeting a late-year opening, although a specific date has not been announced.
Call Your Mother has built its reputation around an unconventional approach to the classic bagel shop. Its bagels are made and baked on site, while the sandwich menu mixes traditional deli ingredients with less expected combinations.
The Coral Gables menu is expected to include some of the company’s signature sandwiches. The Jetski combines brisket, pastrami, sofrito, cheese and jalapeño on a cheddar bagel. The DelRay Club pairs bacon with jalapeño, nectarine, potato chips and peach cream cheese. The Suncity features eggs, cheese, spicy honey and a choice of bacon, pastrami or Impossible sausage on an everything bagel.
The company began in Washington, D.C., in 2018 and has expanded beyond its home market to more than 30 locations either operating or planned across the country.
South Florida could eventually see more of the brand. Call Your Mother co-founder Andrew Dana said the company is interested in finding additional neighborhoods where it could fit.
“Who knows?” Dana said. “We don’t have a big master plan now, but we love the sunshine and we’re looking for more great neighborhoods in need of carbs!”
For Coral Gables, the announcement comes as Miracle Mile continues to evolve, with new restaurants and retailers moving into the city’s downtown district.
