The Amernet String Quartet will continue its celebrated Amernet and Friends chamber music series on Thursday, Jan. 29, with a special appearance by acclaimed violist Luke Fleming at the Sanctuary of the Arts.
Presented at 7:30 p.m., the concert brings together one of South Florida’s most respected chamber ensembles with a nationally recognized artist whose career bridges performance, education, and artistic leadership. The evening promises a richly textured program shaped by collaboration, virtuosity, and the intimate power of chamber music.
Tickets for the performance are $33, including fees.
A cornerstone of South Florida’s classical music scene
Serving as Florida International University’s artists-in-residence ensemble, the Amernet String Quartet has become a defining presence in the region’s cultural landscape.
Internationally acclaimed for its stylistic versatility and expressive depth, the quartet is known for performances that balance technical precision with emotional resonance. Over the years, Amernet has built a reputation for dynamic interpretations that span classical masterworks and contemporary compositions alike.
Their concerts frequently emphasize the collaborative spirit of chamber music, inviting guest artists to join them in programs that explore new musical textures and artistic dialogue.
A celebrated violist takes the stage
Joining Amernet for this second concert in the series is violist Luke Fleming, a Juilliard-trained musician widely respected for both his refined artistry and his leadership in chamber music education.
Fleming is the founding director of the Manhattan Chamber Players and the Crescent City Chamber Music Festival, two organizations that have played influential roles in expanding chamber music performance and training across the country.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with respected ensembles including the Escher, Modigliani, and Orion Quartets. His performances are often praised for their warmth, clarity, and expressive range, qualities that align naturally with Amernet’s ensemble-driven approach.
His appearance in Coral Gables offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience one of New York’s leading violists in an intimate concert setting.
A program built on collaboration and depth
While specific repertoire has not been publicly detailed, the Amernet and Friends series traditionally centers on thoughtfully curated chamber works designed to highlight both ensemble cohesion and individual artistry.
With Fleming joining the quartet, the program is expected to explore the rich tonal possibilities of the viola within the chamber music tradition, adding depth and color to the string quartet sound.
The collaboration underscores the series’ mission to present artistically rich performances that bring together exceptional musicians in dynamic combinations.
Community support sustaining the concert series
The Amernet and Friends Concert Series is presented by The Wertheim and made possible through the generous support of the Funding Arts Network (FAN), an organization dedicated to strengthening South Florida’s arts community through collective philanthropy.
Their support has helped sustain innovative programming and ensure continued access to high-level classical performances throughout the region.
