The Colonnade Coral Gables transforms into a luminous sanctuary of strings, rhythm, and candlelight—hosting two back-to-back concerts that offer a rare opportunity to experience both the serenity of Vivaldi and the swagger of Bad Bunny, all under the same roof on Friday, June 6.
Presented by Fever’s Candlelight Concert series, these one-of-a-kind performances have captivated audiences worldwide with their immersive, candlelit ambiance and genre-blending musical programming. Now, for one evening only in Coral Gables, concertgoers can choose their own adventure—or better yet, experience both.
First Movement: ‘Candlelight: Vivaldi and More’
Set in the timeless elegance of the Hotel Colonnade’s grand rotunda, the evening begins at 7 p.m. with “Candlelight: Vivaldi and More,” a lush, multi-era string concert performed by the acclaimed Listeso String Quartet.
The program centers around Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, arguably the most beloved and recognizable work in the classical canon. Guests will be transported through the vivid sonic landscapes of “Spring,” “Summer,” “Autumn,” and “Winter”, with each movement brought to life by the quartet’s expressive interpretation and the venue’s warm, flickering candlelight.
But this concert is more than just a tribute to Vivaldi. It also includes a genre-crossing selection of complementary works that showcase how timeless music can evolve:
- Jules Massenet’s ethereal “Méditation” from Thaïs
- Astor Piazzolla’s sultry, tango-infused “Libertango” and “Verano Porteño” (Summer in Buenos Aires)
- And a modern, minimalist reimagining with Max Richter’s “Spring 3,” from his acclaimed recomposition of The Four Seasons
The result is a deeply immersive, multi-sensory performance that bridges the elegance of Baroque with the spirit of contemporary reinterpretation. The performance runs approximately 65 minutes.
Second Movement: ‘Candlelight: Tribute to Bad Bunny’
After a brief interlude, the mood shifts from classic to current as the Collins Quartet takes the stage for the 9:30 p.m. “Candlelight: Tribute to Bad Bunny.” This second concert of the evening reimagines the Latin trap icon’s biggest hits through an elegant string arrangement that pulses with rhythm and reinvention.
Whether you’re a diehard Bad Bunny fan or a curious newcomer, you’ll recognize the infectious beats and emotional layers of chart-toppers like:
- “Tití Me Preguntó”
- “Me Porto Bonito”
- “Callaíta”
- “Ojitos Lindos”
- “Yonaguni”
- “La Canción”
- And more, including “un 100xto” and “Moscow Mule”
Performed without vocals but with every ounce of attitude, these string renditions transform reggaetón and Latin pop into something intimate and unexpectedly elegant. It’s a playful juxtaposition: classical instruments channeling the voice of a generation known for breaking boundaries.
Like all Candlelight events, this one lasts about 60 minutes and is open to guests ages 8 and older (under 16 must be accompanied by an adult).
